Recently I ran across information on how to build a photographic lightbox.  The sample pictures that was produced with the lightbox and a digital camera really intrigued me.

I decided to build one myself.  I have several short (48" or less) pieces of 1 x 4 & 1 x 6 pine that I picked up cheap at the Home Depot from the cull cart.  I ripped some of these down to 1-1/2" wide and then cut them to length.  I built my light box to be 24" deep, by 22" wide x 22" high.  Dimensions are up to the person building the box since there is no set design.

I covered the back with some 1/4" mdf that I had left over from another project.  For the sides and top, I used the cheap version of a light diffusing material suggested by one of the websites.  It was a $2.17 shower curtain liner from Wallyworld.  This was stretched over the opening and stapled down.  I installed three clips at the rear top to hold the white poster board.  I'll revise this later on today and include pictures of the lightbox itself.

Here is one of my first pictures taken using the lightbox:

Not bad for a first attempt I thought.

Our Motto (by Billy Wilder)

"Trust your own instinct. Your mistakes might as well be your own, instead of someone else's."

By being creative in my woodworking endeavors, and following what I think looks the best and that pleases my wife or I, is usually met with success. Whenever I do make a mistake it becomes a learning experience and I can't rest until I find out what I did wrong to prevent me from doing it again. Though this website I want to share my projects with everyone and in turn learn from their input.
